Saint John the Evangelist

c. 4–104

Saint John the Evangelist, c. 4–104
December 27

Saint John was the son of Zebedee and Salome. He was a follower of Saint John the Baptist and a fisherman until Jesus called him to be an Apostle. He joined Jesus with his brother James the Greater. Saint John was with Jesus for three years and was the only Apostle known to have been present at the crucifixion. At that time, Jesus placed Mary in his care. John is said to be the author of the Book of Revelation, the final book of the Bible, as well as the Gospel according to John, and three Epistles. He was the last of the Apostles to die, and was very old at that time.
