Freddie and Michael Erdman run a successful car dealership in Merritt Island, Florida, but their good fortune has made them anything but idle. Each year, the Erdmans donate much of their time, talent, and treasure to their parish, Holy Name of Jesus. One of the ways they do so is by donating a car to be raffled off their parish's annual festival, which raises funds for the parish school.
Generous to be sure, but that's not enough giving for the Erdmans. They also donate countless hours to a number of charitable organizations, including the National Kidney Foundation. They also have committed funds to help rebuild the parish hall, which was destroyed during the hurricanes that battered Florida in 2005.
For the Erdmans, their generosity is simply part of following Jesus' call to love and serve others. No matter how much financial success they have achieved, it pales in comparison to their success as compassionate Catholics.
