Building Communities of Support

A recent popular teen movie sings, "We're all in this together." So many times in our life we encounter difficulties and challenges that we cannot face alone. We might make plans about how our lives will unfold, but God's comical sense of timing can throw off the best laid plans. Imagine my dismay as I realized at one point in my life that I would have to move my family to a new state just four weeks after finishing a school year and giving birth to my fourth child! Thank God for the support of family and friends who came together to feed us for almost the whole month, drive children to school and help us pack - even though we were moving away! Especially during times of difficulty and transition in our lives, we need to know that we have a spiritual safety net in God and an actual safety net in the communities that surround us with love.
