The Path to Sainthood Clears for Two Church Leaders

Could Blessed Pope John Paul II be a Saint before the end of the year? It’s possible, according to Andrea Tornielli of La Stampa.

Now that a panel of doctors has found no medical explanation for a healing attributed to the intercession of Blessed John Paul II, he’s a step closer to sainthood. If the Congregation for the Causes of Saints officially recognizes the healing as a miracle, the requirements for the canonization of the late Pontiff will be fulfilled.

You can read more about if here.

And another cause for sainthood also has made recent progress: The path toward beatification of Archbishop Oscar Romero has been "unblocked."

The postulator for the cause of the slain Salvadoran prelate says that the process towards sainthood is again underway, with the possibility that Archbishop Romero will be beatified. If he is declared a martyr by dying for his faith when government forces assassinated him, he could be beatified without having a miracle attributed to his intercession.
