Two popes to be canonized

A pair of influential and beloved popes have been slated for sainthood. On July 5, the Congregation for the Causes of Saints approved a second miracle attributed to the influence of Blessed John Paul II, and Pope Francis signed a canonization decree for John Paul II as well as Blessed John XXIII.

Both former pontiffs could be canonized before the end of this year, but the Vatican has not set a date as yet.
