Father Joseph Walijewski could not bear the thought of sleeping in a comfortable bed knowing that starving, homeless children wandered the streets. So this Wisconsin priest devoted his life to missionary work in Latin America. There, his endless self-giving made a lasting impact, particularly through the orphanage he founded.
"I've been around him since I was very young, and I noticed the humbleness from the bottom of his heart that characterized him," said Alfredo Iñigo, a former resident of the orphanage. "For me, yes, he is a saint."
Earlier this year, Father Walijewski's cause for sainthood was opened by local Church officials. Learn more about him in this video from Catholic News Service.
